detection distance of proximity switch

Detection distance of proximity switch the action distance of proximity switch refers to the spatial distance measured from the reference position (sensing surface of proximity switch) to the detection surface when the detected object moves in a certain way.

The rated operating distance refers to the nominal value of the operating distance of the proximity switch. When determining the detection distance of proximity switch, the installation position of proximity switch, the size and material of detected object shall be considered. When the same proximity switch detects objects of different materials, its action distance is different. For example, for the hall proximity switch, its action distance is greatly affected by the magnetic field strength of the tested object. The greater the magnetic field strength of the tested object, the easier the hall switch is to act.

For capacitive proximity switches, the larger the dielectric constant, the easier it is to reach its nominal operating distance. It should be noted that when detecting objects with low dielectric constant, the capacitive proximity switch can adjust the action distance by adjusting the potentiometer on the switch to increase the induction sensitivity. Generally, the actual working distance of the proximity switch is set to 0.7-0.8 of the rated action distance.
